Cricket fans in Uganda are set for an energetic return to action as Jinja prepares to host the second edition of BATBALL X, the opening event of Season 2 of the BATBALL Program. Instead of starting with the usual buildup, this year’s story begins with the young players themselves—many of whom have grown through school cricket, stepped into youth leagues, and are now ready to test their skills on a bigger, faster stage. For these rising stars, the Jinja SSS Cricket Oval will become a proving ground from 27th to 30th November 2025.

BATBALL X Jinja T10 is organized by Batball Uganda Limited in partnership with Cricket Uganda and the Jinja Association of Cricket Clubs. The tournament keeps its signature fast-paced 10-over format but extends its age bracket to players under 22. This shift marks an important step forward for player development, allowing university cricketers, A-team prospects, and other emerging talents to gain crucial exposure. It builds on the program’s original U-19 foundation, offering a clear and exciting pathway from youth cricket to senior competitions.

The four participating teams—Leopards, Bulls, Elephants, and Rhinos—promise tight competition, each bringing a strong squad eager to shine. The format features a double round-robin, semi-finals, a third-place playoff, and a grand final, adding up to 16 games across four thrilling days, all streamed worldwide.

Season 1 laid the groundwork in memorable style, with the Central Rhinos edging Rwanda’s Emerging Team in 2023. The momentum only grew when sixteen standout players later featured in BATBALL MAXX, a globally broadcast T20 event held in Kampala in March 2025.

According to Aakarshit Madaan, CEO of Batball Uganda, this year’s event strengthens the bridge between youth and senior cricket, ensuring Uganda’s next generation is prepared for bigger platforms. That commitment is reflected in Batball’s continued investment in grassroots development, including support for the Boys Schools Cricket Week and data-driven player selection.

Cricket Uganda Development Manager, Davis Turinawe, echoes this vision, emphasizing the importance of giving young athletes room to transition smoothly into higher levels of competition.

Following BATBALL X Jinja T10, the season will continue with two more major tournaments,
