In a tragic incident, Nadhoya Sheila, a 20-year-old student at Kiribaki Secondary School in Iganga District, was found dead this morning. Her body was discovered in a culvert, marking a shocking end to a promising young life.
Sheila, a senior six student, had left her home in Iwawu Village, Bulamagi Sub-County, yesterday evening to attend study preparations at her school. She was expected back home by around 9 PM but never arrived. Her grandfather, Mr. Tusubira Agrey, who has been caring for her, reported that Sheila had been attending her study sessions regularly, and her absence was unusual.
Early this morning, residents of Iwawu Village, near Nekooli Guest House, found Sheila’s lifeless body in a culvert. The discovery was made by a boda boda rider who regularly passes by the area. He immediately alerted the police and Sheila’s family.
Mr. Kiiza Julius, the headteacher of Kiribaki Secondary School, expressed shock and sorrow over the incident. He mentioned that the school had not been aware of Sheila’s after-hours activities, as the institution does not permit day scholars to attend evening study sessions without proper authorization. He called for a thorough investigation to uncover how and why such a tragedy occurred.
Pro Busoga East spokesperson Nandawula Diana has not yet commented on the case. Meanwhile, Sheila’s body has been transported to Iganga Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
