Victoria Pearls have taken a strong 2-0 lead in the Capricorn Series after back-to-back wins over hosts Namibia. While their batting has been modest, it’s Uganda’s smart and tight bowling that has made the difference.

In both games, the Pearls batted first, scoring 98/5 and 95/5 in the opening two matches. The scores were not big, but Uganda’s bowlers turned the games around with discipline and clever strategy.

The star in the first match was Sarah Akiteng, who delivered an excellent spell, picking 3 wickets for just 6 runs. Her bowling stopped Namibia from chasing the target, and Uganda won by only 2 runs.

In the second match, it was Consy Aweko’s turn to shine. The experienced bowler gave away only 10 runs in her 4 overs and took 2 crucial wickets, putting pressure on Namibia. Despite Uganda dropping seven catches, they still defended their total, winning by 5 runs.

Esther Iloku has also played a big part at the top of the order, scoring 47 in the first game and 23 in the second. Middle-order players like Rita Musamali and Stephanie Nampiina have helped build the innings, even though Uganda is yet to cross 100 runs in a match.

Both teams will return to action on Friday for the third game.
