There was drama in Luuka District as Hon. Kibila Daniel, the NRM mainstream Secretary for Finance, was dramatically thrown out of a district meeting like a “chicken thief.”

According to inside sources, Hon. Kibila had decided to contest against his boss, the NRM Mainstream Chairman, Hon. Kisa Stephen of Luuka South.

The incident unfolded during an NRM board meeting in Luuka District when security operatives forcefully ordered Hon. Kibila to leave the meeting, despite him being the duly elected Treasurer for the District Executive Committee (DEC). Kibila described the action as unlawful, noting that there was no official notification or directive from the relevant authorities.

He further stated that it is now on record that Luuka District is being led by “corrupt and confused leaders,” whom he referred to as the so-called lions of Luuka. According to him, this internal conflict is not only tarnishing the image of the NRM but also weakening the party’s structures ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Hon. Kibila claimed that the misconduct among some NRM leaders in the district began when they started blocking anyone interested in contesting against them during the party primaries. “Unfortunately, this has affected several individuals who dared to express interest—many have been victimized in silence,” he said.

Quoting a local proverb, Kibila added, “A thief has only forty days. Today, you have been exposed.” He appealed to the national NRM leadership to intervene, warning that if such actions continue, the party risks losing its influence in Luuka District.

Concerned citizens have also condemned the conduct of security operatives, accusing them of siding with certain individuals to tarnish the image of the NRM.

Mutalu Peter, an NRM cadre and LC1 Chairperson of Kyiwalazi Village, Irongo Sub-county, Luuka South, noted that if no immediate action is taken, the party may face serious challenges in mobilizing support for the President in 2026.

When contacted for a comment, the RDC of Luuka District, Mr. Kibweika Michael, emphasized that party matters should be resolved internally. He urged all leaders to reconcile and focus on mobilizing support for the party’s flag bearer, His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, to ensure a strong win in the next election.
