In the ongoing U19 ICC Men’s World Cup Qualifiers Div.2 in Tanzania, both the host nation and Nigeria have secured their places in the semifinals.

Tanzania U19 concluded their group stage with a remarkable performance, defeating Mozambique U19 by a record 353 runs. Karim Rashid Kiseto led the charge with a spectacular century, scoring 133 runs off 105 balls. Mohamed Simba contributed with a solid 77 runs from 52 balls, while Sayan Viyay added 62 runs from 58 balls.

Mozambique’s bowlers, Manuel Marta, Charles Manuel, and Emerson Rita, each took one wicket, but their efforts could not stop Tanzania’s powerful batting.

In their innings, Tanzania scored an impressive 379/4 in 50 overs. Mozambique struggled in their response, managing only 26 runs before being all out in 12.3 overs. With this win, Tanzania completed the group stage unbeaten, with three wins out of three games. On the other hand, Mozambique did not win any matches, ending the stage with losses in all their games.

In another another  game, Nigeria U19 secured their second win of the tournament by defeating Ghana U19 by 119 runs at the UDSM Ground. The result ensured Nigeria finished second in Group B, earning a place in the semifinals alongside Tanzania.

In Group A, Sierra Leone leads with 4 points, while Rwanda and Botswana are tied with 2 points each, though Rwanda holds a better net run rate. Malawi, with no points, is out of semifinal contention.

Tomorrow’s matches will see Botswana face Sierra Leone and Malawi compete against Rwanda. The top two teams from these matches will join Tanzania and Nigeria in the semifinals.
