Mr Alex Kifuse, the Chief Finance officer (CFO) of Kamuli district, is nursing serious wounds in Jinja Regional Referral Hospital after he was reportedly attacked by suspected panga-welding goons.

Police confirmed that the tragic incident unfolded in the wee hours of Tuesday, April 30, 2024, when Mr. Kifuse had just reached his home. He was cut on his head, neck, and back.

Busoga East regional police spokesperson, Assistant Spretendant of Police (ASP) Micheal Kasadha, said the distressing development happened at Webwa ward in the northern division of Kamuli municipality in Kamuli district.

“We have started investigating the circumstances under which suspected assailants wanted to end the life of the finance officer. They mercilessly cut him when he had just reached his home,” said Kasadha.

Kasadha said the determined assailants were ready for Mr. Kifuse, as they carried out the attack immediately after he had stepped into his house door. He said police visited and documented the crime scene.

The officer revealed that last week on Thursday, Kifuse received reports from the yet to be identified individuals who were threatening to end his life.

“Kifuse was last week informed that some people had prepared to attack and insult him,” Kasadha added before emphasising that investigations are at hand.

Police now call for any individuals with any knowledge about the tragic incident to avail it to authorities to support the establishment of the perpetrators. Similarly, Kasadha encouraged residents to report any threats from any individuals for police to intensify their security.

“We encourage members of the report to report any threats and intimidations to us. Police are ready to provide security to you and save your life before any attacks,” he noted.

Kifuse’s life remains in prayers as he was first taken to Kamuli hospital before being transferred to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital for further medical management.
