Namayingo: Henry Sida, 43-year-old man, is in police cells for reportedly burning the hands of his daughter. He is a resident of a resident of Dohwe village in Buhemba Sub-county, Namayingo district.

According to Mr Trevor Solomon Baleke, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) of Namayingo, Sida nearly destroyed the hands of his daughter when she asked him school fees to go for studies.

The 12-year-old minor was only identified as Nabwire. She allegedly dropped out of school while in Primary Four when her father refused to pay her school fees.

It is reported that Sida abandoned his responsibilities as a father when he separated with his children’s mother on allegations of torturing her.

Mr Baleke confirmed Sida’s detention, saying it was after a tip off from Charles Makhulo, the Village chairperson LC1.

“We got a tip off from the areas LCI chairman, Mr Charles Makhulo, after Sida had burnt his child, and we went for him,” said Mr Baleke.

Mr Baleke said the security team who apprehended the suspect also brought the victim to Buyinja health centre IV, where she was admitted.

Sida’s arrest comes at a time when schools officially commenced the second term of the year. However, tturn up of the learners, according to reports, remains low in the rural Buyende district.
