Residents of Bukanga Sub County in Luuka District are filled with gratitude and optimism as road rehabilitation efforts in their area bring long-awaited improvements to local infrastructure.

The initiative is spearheaded by Nabirye Annet, an aspiring Woman MP for Luuka District, who has launched a district-wide campaign to rehabilitate roads in each sub-county.

After successfully restoring roads in Bulanga Town Council and Busalamu Town Council, Nabirye’s team has now turned its focus to Bukanga Sub County. Major roads under repair include the Masiya-Kiroba road, Busandha Nawantale-Mukoli road, Kiroba-Budondo B road, Katalakabi Road, Budoma-Buwologoma swamp road, and Bingi-Kikuli road. These routes, essential for connecting communities, had deteriorated significantly, making travel difficult for residents, farmers, and businesses.

Speaking to our correspondent, Bukanga Sub County LC III Chairperson George Kagweri expressed his gratitude to Nabirye for her dedication to improving the community’s road network. “The roads were in a very poor state, making it hard for residents to travel, especially during the rainy seasons. Nabirye’s efforts are a major relief to us,” Kagweri said, commending her for her commitment to rural development.

Community members, led by their village chairpersons, echoed their appreciation, sharing how the poor road conditions had long hampered their daily lives and economic activities. They expressed hope that the ongoing rehabilitation will transform access to essential services, local markets, and nearby towns.
