The Luuka chiefdom has forged a promising partnership with the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) in Luuka district to combat the pervasive issue of child labor. LWF’s unwavering dedication to addressing child labour in Luuka district has positioned them as a leading force in this crucial endeavor, striving to secure a brighter future for children through access to quality education.

In a significant milestone, representatives from LWF convened with the esteemed chiefs of Luuka district. During a constructive session held at the council hall of the Luuka district headquarters, the Luuka chiefdom, represented by its General Secretary, Owek. John Ibanda Badibyalawa, extended a heartfelt commitment to collaborate with LWF in the fight against child labor.

Expressing gratitude for LWF’s proactive initiative, John Ibanda underscored the prevalence of child labor in Luuka district and emphasized the shared responsibility in addressing its root causes. With the steadfast support of HRH. Willinton Nabwana Tabingwa of Luuka, the chiefdom stands united in its resolve to curb the scourge of child labor.

Echoing these sentiments, Luuka district’s Culture Officer, Mutundi John Lander, admonished the practice of neglectful parenting, attributing its rise to the alarming increase in child labor. He implored clan leaders to advocate for parental responsibility and raise awareness about the detrimental impacts of child labor within the community.

Despite the challenges, clan leaders in Luuka expressed appreciation for LWF’s intervention, recognizing its potential to significantly mitigate child labor in the district.
