Police in Jinja district have arrested and detained Emmanuel Okori, a 45-year-old sugarcane cutter for allegedly engaging in a sexual affair with a 4-year-old girl.

Guarding Madhivani sugarcane plantations, the shameless Okori is facing charges of aggrevayed defilement after he was got practising the evil against the innocent young girl in his rented room.

The chocking incident happened Tuesday, March 12, at around 3pm when the accused person suduced the minor with a chapati of five hundred shillings and grabbed her into his rented house located in Nairo cell in Kakira Town Council Jinja district.

Police say that the incident was brought to light by Auma Neko, a 70-year-old cleaner in Kakira Town Council, who heard the voice of a girl desperately crying for help in Okori’s house while she was executing her lawful duty

“The old woman entered Okori’s house to find out what exactly was taking place, and to her disappointment met Okori naked sleeping on the victim,” said SP James Mubi, the Kiira region police spokesperson.

According to Mubi, Okori attempted to bribe the ageing woman with five thousand shillings, but she bitterly declined, making an alarm that attracted residents.

“Residents notified Kakira police, that immediately swang into action and arrested the suspect,” Mubi added, noting that Okori is charged with aggravated defilement.

Mubi informed Busoga Today that the victim is soon to be examined medically, and the mental status of the suspect shall be established.

Police applauded the old woman for good heart to save the young girl which Mubi commended that she should be appreciated like the boda boda man in the case of the Ndiga clan leader murder case, who was awarded a medal by President Museveni for his determination.

“Police is very grateful for the spirit of love and care exhibited by the old woman. She deserves appreciation by the Council of Kakira Town Council and Jinja District local Government Council among other well wishers,” said Mubi.

As prosecution guided investigations commence, Okori is also charged with bribery after a note of five thousand shillings that was found in his hands trying to bride the old woman was exhibited.
