Jinja: Hardly a month since moving into the Busoga region for a much-anticipated grassroots agriculture-based youth employment mobilization project, Heifer International and the Mastercard Foundation are already making headlines. At the ongoing Jinja National Agriculture Show, the two development organizations, together with their partners ASIGMA, CURAD, FSME, and FSD, assembled a group of youth to exhibit their agricultural products, offering a glimpse of what lies ahead for the region.

Speaking at the event, the State Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dr. Bright Rwamirama, praised Heifer International for its decades of support to the agricultural sector in Uganda. Heifer International and the Mastercard Foundation’s presence at the agriculture show was part of their new project, SAYE – Stimulating Agribusiness for Youth Employment. They used their presence at the show to register and onboard young people who will benefit from the five-year-long project (2023-2029) designed to support the youth in the Busoga region.

The project aims to create jobs for 250,000 youth in the region.
