Buyende: The Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Milly Babirye Babalanda, officially commissioned the Office of the President at the Buyende District Headquarters. The newly established office complex, which includes all key security offices, is expected to enhance service delivery and improve the monitoring of government activities in the district.
While addressing leaders and residents during the commissioning ceremony, Minister Babalanda called upon civil servants and political leaders to work closely with the Office of the President to ensure efficient service delivery. She emphasized the importance of collaboration in accelerating the implementation of government programs and boosting development in Buyende.
“I urge all leaders to seek guidance from the Office of the President whenever needed, and to work together to serve the people of Buyende more effectively,” said Minister Babalanda.
She extended her appreciation to the Buyende District Chairperson, Mr. Michael Kanaku, for donating one acre of land on which the office has been constructed. “I thank Mr. Kanaku for generously donating this land, which has enabled us to bring essential government services closer to the people,” she added.
Minister Babalanda also encouraged the public to report unresolved challenges to the Office of the President, noting that the office is well-positioned to assist in mobilization and finding solutions where other authorities may have fallen short.
In her remarks, the minister commended the technical team, led by the Secretary of the Office of the President, for their tireless efforts in overseeing the construction project. She also thanked M/S ZAWED Construction Company for their role in completing the office block to a high standard.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for the Presidency, Hajji Yunusu Kakande, acknowledged that a lack of government-owned land in some districts had made it difficult to construct Resident District Commissioner (RDC) offices. However, he noted that the ministry has so far managed to construct 52 RDC offices across the country in districts such as Buyende, Kamuli, Adjumani, Abim, Buhweju, Buvuma, Butaleja, Luuka, Kiboga, Mityana, and others—thanks to land donations from local communities and district leaders.
Hajji Kakande commended the people of Buyende for their support and urged them to continue voting for National Resistance Movement (NRM) flagbearers to ensure continued collaboration and effective service delivery.
Meanwhile, Buyende District Chairperson Mr. Michael Kanaku expressed his gratitude to the government for investing in permanent infrastructure within the district. He revealed that since Buyende began operating as an independent district on 12th February 2002, many government offices had been operating out of rented premises.
“I am proud of the government for its continued support and development efforts, which are now visible through permanent and modern structures like the Office of the President,” Kanaku said.
The newly commissioned facility is expected to play a critical role in strengthening governance, security coordination, and public service management in Buyende District.
