The chief of Princes (Isabarangila) of Busoga Kingdom, His Royal Highness Samuel Zirabamuaale Menya, on Saturday, May 11, 2024hosted a delegation of youths from across the eleven chiefdoms of Busoga. The delegation was led by Mr Yafesi Bairuleki, the chairperson of Busoga Kingdom Youth Council (BKYC), a unifying body that brings together the young people of Busoga.

The memorable meeting organized at the Kingdom headquarters in Bugembe, Jinja city, featured relevant discussions that shed light on how the Busoga youth could ‘get hell out of poverty.’ BKYC, a dynamic umbrella of Busoga youth in ‘Obwakyabazinga bwa Busoga’ is aiming to mobilize the young generation for a common development.

The Isabarangila also the Royal Chief of Kigulu chiefdom, during the engagement, commended the delegation for the important agendas that would potentially transform the Kingdom. He stated that the top leadership is committed to supporting the activities of BKYC to attract peers in constructive matters.

“You have a good agenda, and they need documentation. I have taken note of your aims and objectives. They are really good, and you also look to be good people,” said the Isabarangila.

The prince informed the youths about the importance of embracing agriculture, a core factor to easily transform lives, emphasizing championing poultry, which he described as a cheap initiative to everyone.

“You look at rearing chicken, especially chroilers, that take a shorter period to yield money. Not only chicken but also livestock is a good thing you need to practice,” he added before calling for unity among the youths.

He applauded the youth council for mobilizing peers across the sub-region for unity of purpose, which also signifies development. “As Busoga Kingdom, we want united people. We want to thank the youth council for now coming on board to mobilize colleagues for unity,” he added.

On his part, Yafesi Bairukileki, who led the delegation, expressed pleasure to His Majesty William Wilberforce Nadiope Gabula IV for considering the group of energetic and youthful individuals to sentinsitise the youth on culture and socioeconomic transformation. Bairukileki represents Bugabula BB to the youth council.

“We (BKYC) humbly request that you give us the chance to serve Busoga and provide us with a platform as youths. We have a vision to plan and empower our fellow youths, harnessing their potential and talents,” said Mr Bairkileki.

He said their goals are to coordinate the 11 chiefdoms, identifying and nurturing good youths with values and purpose. He added that they are eager to serve Busoga with their heart desires, dedicating themselves for the betterment of the Kingdom.

“We believe that by working together, we can achieve great things and create a brighter future for Busoga. Thank you for considering our request. We are ready to serve with passion, dedication, and commitment,” he added.

The delegation comprised BKYC Executive members who provided the Isabarangila with prizes, including a goat, Matooke, bars of soap, and a brown envelope, among others. The Prince, however, vowed to deliver the important objectives of the delegation to the Kyabazinga of Busoga.
