It was a challenging outing for Busoga United as they faced off against Maroons FC in a Uganda Premier League match at the Prisons Ground, Luzira. Unfortunately for Busoga United, the day ended in disappointment with a 3-0 defeat, marking a tough setback in their league campaign.

The match began with Maroons FC asserting their dominance early on, with Fred Amaku showcasing his scoring ability with two quick goals. The first came from a well-coordinated play with Ronald Orombi, followed by another from a precise cross delivered by Fred Kigozi.

Before halftime, Maroons further extended their lead as Abraham Tusubira capitalized on defensive vulnerabilities within the Busoga United ranks, compounding the visitors’ woes.

As the second half unfolded, tensions escalated on the pitch, leading to a series of setbacks for Busoga United. The team found themselves down to nine men after Charles Mulanda and Hussein Ssajjabi received red cards, leaving the squad severely depleted and facing an uphill battle against their opponents.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Busoga United fought valiantly to stem the tide, but their efforts were ultimately in vain. Maroons FC maintained their lead, and despite several attempts, Busoga United couldn’t muster a draw or a comeback.

With the final whistle, Busoga United had to accept defeat, reflecting on a challenging match and a missed opportunity to secure crucial points in the league standings.

The loss further compounds Busoga United’s position in the league, as they remain in 14th place with 18 points from 23 games, as they continue to fight for league survival.

Looking ahead, Busoga United will need to regroup and refocus as they prepare for their next outing against Wakiso Giants at Kabaka Kyabaggu Sports Stadium.
