BUL FC has solidified its position at the top of the Uganda Premier League, pulling five points clear after triumphing over Vipers SC in a thrilling five-goal spectacle on Friday night at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende. The Eastern Giants now boast 29 points, maintaining their lead despite the Venoms’ formidable challenge, securing a resounding 3-2 win.

Nicholas Mwere, Lawrence Tezikya, and Ibrahim Mugulusi were the heroes for BUL, each finding the back of the net. The visiting team displayed resilience, outshining Vipers in a captivating match that showcased the prowess of both sides.

Mwere initiated the scoring just seven minutes into the game, capitalizing on Vipers’ defensive lapse after a corner. Tezikya added to the lead with a spectacular goal just before halftime, demonstrating skill and precision.

Vipers attempted a comeback as Yunus Ssentamu and Salem Ekbad netted consolation goals, but BUL’s substitute Mugulusi ensured the visitors maintained a two-goal lead, ultimately securing the victory.

Despite late efforts, including Bright Anukani’s attempt denied by the woodwork, Vipers succumbed to their first home league defeat in two years.

This win marks BUL’s ninth triumph of the season, positioning them favorably in the title race with 29 points. Vipers, in second place, will look to bounce back as they face Express FC in their next match.

BUL FC’s next challenge awaits them in the Jinja derby against Busoga United on December 28, while Vipers SC prepares to clash with Express FC on the same day.

The defeat brings an end to Vipers SC’s remarkable 40-game unbeaten streak at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, making BUL FC’s victory all the more significant in Uganda’s football landscape.

As the Uganda Premier League unfolds, the battle for supremacy intensifies, promising fans more gripping encounters and unpredictable outcomes.
