BUL FC sinks inconsistent SC Villa with narrow win

SC Villa’s away problems continued on Friday as they fell 1-0 to BUL FC in a Uganda Premier League clash at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

Fresh from a big win against table leaders Vipers SC, many expected Villa to build momentum. But instead, their season-long struggle for consistency showed again. The Jogoos have yet to win back-to-back league games this season a worrying pattern for the reigning champions.

Their biggest weakness? Playing away from home. Of their many road trips this season, only one has ended in victory, a 2-0 win over Maroons FC on March 9.

BUL FC, on the other hand, are climbing steadily. The Eastern Giants put on a disciplined performance and got their reward in the 21st minute. Midfielder Jerome Kirya finished off a well-placed long ball from defender Thomas Kimbowa with a low shot at the near post.

Later in the game, BUL thought they had scored again through Isaac Musiima, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Despite late pressure from SC Villa, BUL held firm to take all three points, moving up to 3rd place with 39 points. Villa, meanwhile, stay 8th on 30 points  a position that reflects their up-and-down season.
