As the country gears for the 2026 general elections, a section of youths from different political parties in Eastern Uganda have merged to form a political pressure group. The group named Eastern Revolutionary Platform (ERP) was launched on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, in Jinja city. The controversial National Unity Platform (NUP) mobilizer Moses Bigirwa was unveiled as the president of the Revolutionary group. Namayingo: Henry Sida, 43-year-old man, is in police cells for reportedly burning the hands of his daughter. He is a resident of a resident of Dohwe village in Buhemba Sub-county, Namayingo district. According to Mr Trevor Solomon Baleke, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) of Namayingo, Sida nearly destroyed the hands of his daughter when she asked him school fees to go for studies. Kaliro: The leadership of Abasoga Nseete at Uganda Martyrs school of nursing in Kaliro district was Sunday, May 26, 2024, transitioned. The instruments of power were exchanged from the outgoing leaders to the new cabinet. The Executive Director of National Planning Authority (NPA), Dr Joseph Muvawala, has ordered for demolition of kiosks constructed in the service lanes in Jinja City. Not only in Jinja but Muvawala wants all kiosks established in alleys of urban centres across the country pulled down.
