Kamuli: The territorial police in Kamuli are holding a 39-year-old teacher for reportedly defiling a 15-year-old P.7 pupil.

Identified as Stephen Kimpi, he is a teacher at Nawansaso Primary School in Kitayunjwa Subcounty, Kamuli District. Kimpi, who resides at the staff quarters of the school with the victim, is facing charges of aggravated defilement.

Preliminary findings indicate that Mr. Kimpi married the victim’s aunt six months ago and they have been living together with the victim at the staff quarters of the workplace.

Kamuli police report that “On May 29, 2024, while the wife was away, Kimpi took advantage and allegedly forced the victim into a sexual act after which he threatened to kill her if she disclosed it to anyone.”

In his statement, Busoga North Regional Police Publicist ASP Michael Kasadha, on September 6, 2024, stated that when the victim was going home after a gospel crusade at Nawansaso Primary School, the perpetrator allegedly attempted to defile her again, only to be saved by a passerby.

“It was at this point that she decided to disclose the sexual abuse to her mother and aunt,” Afande Kasadha said.

Kasadha informed us that the matter was reported to Kamuli police, where a case file of Aggravated Defilement vide SD Ref. 06/07/09/2024 was opened.

Kimpi was subsequently apprehended and is currently in custody at Kamuli CPS. Both the suspect and the victim were examined pending further investigations.

According to Kasadha, upon completion of inquiries, the suspect will be arraigned before court to answer appropriate charges.
