Ann Lisa Kagoya from Bugweri Chiefdom was declared Miss Tourism of the Busoga Kingdom on Saturday, August 17.

Kagoya was unveiled during the enthusiastic Kagulu Rock climbing challenge, organized at Kagulu in Buyende District.

The 21-year-old emerged victorious in the highly contested Miss Tourism competition, which featured fifteen contestants from various chiefdoms across Busoga Kingdom.

The young contestants included Fortunate Menya, Ann Lisa Kagoya, Maureen Nawula, Shakirah Atika Nassimbwa, Benitah Mukyala, Jane Martha Kasuswa, Justine Kyegombwa, Hajala Kawala, and Mary Namaganda.

Others were Reina Mariam Mirembe, Faith Lynette Babirye, Shanita Namulondo, Dorcus Namukose, Patience Kisakye, and Sharon Naigaga.

Shakirah Atika Nassimbwa of Butembe Chiefdom was named the second runner-up, while Jane Martha Kasuswa of Bunha Chiefdom finished as the first runner-up.

Rebecca Kadaga, the chairperson of the Busoga Tourism Board, tasked the newly crowned queens with the responsibility of being advocates for their respective chiefdoms.

“Baba Kyabazinga, these queens crowned today have a role to play in promoting their chiefdoms. They possess all the necessary data about their chiefdoms and will use it to represent them,” she said.

The three queens (winner and runner-ups) will represent Busoga at the national Miss Tourism competitions.

Kadaga expressed optimism, saying, “We believe that this time our daughter will be crowned Miss Tourism Uganda. I urge all Basoga to pray for our daughters.”

In addition, Andrew Kitimbo, known by his stage name Shon Wyz, the “Namanilawo” hitmaker, was announced as the Tourism Ambassador of Busoga.

Shon Wyz is the composer of the trending Lusoga song, which describes his lover’s beauty and praises Busoga as her origin.

Similarly, Maureen Nawula was announced as the Brand Ambassador for Radiant Company, Mary Namaganda as the Brand Ambassador for Tyranny Farm in Kayunga District, and Fortunate Menya as the Brand Ambassador for Baba Media Group.
