    Thugs murder two boda-boda riders in Iganga, steal motorcycles

    Iganga: The territorial police in Iganga district are probing the circumstances under which two boda-boda riders were reportedly killed by the yet to be identified individuals. These, after ending the lives of the duo, thugs took off with the two motorcycles.

    Police identifies the victims as Bakari Zijjakiro, 40, and Muhammad Isabirye, a 20-year-old. Their motorcycles taken were established as UFU 315Z and UEZ 932G, respectively.

    Diana Nandawula, the spokesperson of Busoga East regional police confirmed Wednesday afternoon that the irritating incident happened in the night of Tuesday, June 11, 2024, in swamp connecting Kiwani and Namusisi villages in Nawandala subcounty Iganga district.

    “We are hunting for the thugs who killed these two boda-boda riders last night. After killing them, their motor vehicles were taken,” said Nandawula.

    She said the suspects who are the run used big ticks to kill the motorcyclists. Zijjakiro died on the spot while Isabirye died on his way to Bugono Health Center.

    Muzafula Kapala, the chairperson LC3 of Nawandala subcounty, condemned the incident expressing worries that their area has become a hot spot as another boda-boda man was recently murdered in their same locality.

    “I am calling on police to apprehend all people riding motorcycles at night, especially when it is late. Our children are just dying, and we need to take action,” said the local leader.

    Nandawula said that investigations have started to establish the culprits and their motives while the bodies of the deceased were transferred to Iganga hospital for postmortem.
