In a match at Wankulukuku, Busoga United triumphed over Express with a 2-1 victory, to mark a crucial step in their bid to stay in the Uganda Premier League.

The Jinja-based side showed resilience and determination as they grabbed three vital points away from home, to extend their lead to four points clear of the red zone. It was a pivotal moment for Busoga United, who have been fighting tooth and nail to secure their spot in the league.

From the onset, Busoga demonstrated their intent with two quick-fire goals in the first ten minutes of the game. Emmanuel Ajo emerged as the hero of the match, delivering a stunning brace within a mere three minutes. His remarkable performance earned him the well-deserved title of Man of the Match.

Ajo early strikes provided Busoga United with a comfortable lead heading into halftime, setting the stage for a tense second half.

Although Express managed to pull one goal back early in the second half through Isaac Wagoina, it wasn’t enough to stage a comeback against a resilient Busoga side. Despite their best efforts, the Red Eagles fell short against their determined opponents, succumbing to defeat at the hands of Busoga United.

With this crucial victory, Busoga United now sits 13th out of 16 teams in the league standings, boasting 25 points from 26 hard-fought games. Their season’s record includes six wins, seven draws, and 13 losses, positioning them four points ahead of UPDF in the 14th position.

Looking ahead, Busoga United will face a challenging series of fixtures against three title contenders. Their upcoming matches against Kitara, Vipers, and BUL will put their resilience to the test.
