Under the lights of the Lugogo stadium, NEC delivered a stunning blow to BUL’s title aspirations with a hard-fought 1-0 victory with Tom Ikara’s costly error paving the way for NEC’s win.

The spotlight fell squarely on Ikara for all the wrong reasons, as his unfortunate mistake gifted NEC’s Tah Barni Kelvin the opportunity to secure the only goal of the match. In a moment of sheer misjudgment, Ikara’s attempt to intercept a wayward header backfired, resulting in an unintended slide out of play. Kelvin seized upon this unexpected opening with precision, expertly slotting the ball into the net and sealing NEC’s victory.

Despite their valiant efforts, BUL was unable to recover from Ikara’s blunder, leaving them empty-handed and ruing what could have been. The defeat dealt a significant blow to BUL’s title aspirations, as they squandered a golden opportunity to reclaim the top spot in the Uganda Premier League standings.

BUL finds themselves facing an uphill battle to regain momentum in the league. With joint runners-up Vipers looming on the horizon in their next match-day clash on Wednesday, May 1st at Namboole, BUL must regroup quickly to salvage their season.

Meanwhile, NEC’s victory propels them back into contention for the league title, as they climb to fourth place in the standings with 43 points. With crucial fixtures against top-ranked teams like Vipers and SC Villa still ahead, NEC remains firmly in the hunt for glory this season.
