During the funeral of the late Batyani James at Buwologoma village in Bukanga Sub County, Luuka district, the chairman LC V of Luuka district and governor of Busoga consortium, Simon Wakaze, provided reassurance to the residents regarding road rehabilitation efforts in the district. Wakaze affirmed that by the conclusion of 2024, all roads in the district would undergo rehabilitation, addressing a longstanding concern among the local populace.

Expressing gratitude for government support, Wakaze highlighted ongoing efforts to rehabilitate numerous district roads, citing the current project to refurbish the Bukanga – Bumanha – Nawampiti to Buwala road in Irongo Sub County. He credited the government’s allocation of 1 billion Ugandan shillings towards addressing road infrastructure challenges and affirmed the commitment to completing all road rehabilitation projects within the stipulated timeframe.

Former contestant for the chairman LC V seat in Luuka district, Kafuko Peter Mulyandawo, announced his intention to contest once again for the position, signaling a return to the political arena. Samuel Kakyada, upon hearing Mulyandawo’s declaration, rallied support for him among the residents of Buwologoma, emphasizing the importance of backing Mulyandawo’s candidacy for the LC V seat.

In response to the political discourse at the funeral, Luuka District RDC Ronald Katende admonished aspiring candidates for their focus on entertainment rather than substantive issues of development. Katende criticized the tendency of leaders, particularly LC V candidates, to prioritize humor over addressing critical development issues such as education and infrastructure. He urged leaders to prioritize meaningful engagement with constituents to drive tangible progress and development in the district.
