Cricket fans in Jinja were treated to an dramatic showdown as JACC faced off against Rounders in a long-awaited local derby. Both matches, part of the UCA Championship T20 League, took place at Jinja SS Cricket Oval, drawing attention from both teams’ loyal supporters.

The morning fixture witnessed JACC making a determined start, posting a competitive total of 94/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Led by Oyaga Sadam’s resilient 23 runs and Kitamilike Marvin’s steady 26 runs, JACC’s batsmen laid a foundation that proved challenging for Rounders to overcome. However, it was JACC’s bowlers who truly shone, with Agaba Eddy’s impressive 3 wickets for 14 runs in 3.4 overs and Nuwagaba Edrin’s tight bowling, conceding only 16 runs in 3 overs. Rounders, in response, struggled to find momentum against JACC’s bowling attack, ultimately falling short at 78/10 in 18.4 overs. Despite Jonathan Nyiiro’s valiant effort with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for 9 runs in 4 overs, Rounders could not match JACC’s total, handing them a hard-fought victory by 16 runs.

In the afternoon session, Rounders aimed for redemption, opting to bat first. However, they faced a stern challenge from JACC’s bowlers once again. Waisa Kenneth and Agaba Eddy maintained their dominance, claiming 3 wickets each for 22 runs and 13 runs respectively, while Kitamireke Marvin and Charlse Waiswa provided crucial support with 1 wicket each. Rounders managed to post a modest total of 100/8 in 20 overs, with Irishad Suleman’s aggressive 27 runs off 18 balls being the highlight of their innings. In response, JACC displayed composure and determination, successfully chasing down the target with seven wickets in hand. Puwata Ronald’s impressive knock of 47 runs off 45 balls anchored JACC’s innings, securing their second victory of the day.

With these consecutive wins, JACC cements their position at the top of Group B in the UCA Championship T20 League. Having won all four of their matches, JACC leads the standings with 8 points. Meanwhile, Rounders, despite their efforts, find themselves in second place with 4 points, having won two matches and lost two.
