Victoria Pearls is all set for a demanding training stint in India as they gear up for a series of crucial tournaments on the global stage.

The team, comprising 15 talented players, is scheduled to undergo intensive training at the ICWC Omtex Academy from February 21st to March 3rd, 2024. This preparatory camp comes at a crucial juncture for the Pearls as they brace themselves for the upcoming All-Africa Games in Ghana and the highly anticipated T20 Global World Cup Qualifiers in Dubai.

Notable among the squad are some fresh faces, including the promising Immaculate Nandera, who is set to make her maiden appearance for the senior national team.

Looking ahead, the Victoria Pearls have their sights firmly set on securing a coveted spot in the World Cup during the Global T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Dubai this April. Their path to glory won’t be without challenges, with formidable opponents like Sri Lanka, USA, Thailand, and Scotland in their group.

But before they set their sights on Dubai, the Victoria Pearls have an important rendezvous at the All Africa Games in Ghana, slated from March 5th to 13th as Cricket will be making its debut at the Games. Placed in Group B alongside Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Rwanda, the Pearls are eager to make a mark on this historic stage.

Head Coach Lawrence Ssematimba is confident as the Victoria Pearls head to India for training. “The camp in India is crucial for our upcoming challenges,” he says. “We’ve focused on improving our batting, aiming for success in Ghana and Dubai.”

Travelling Team: Consy Aweko (Captain), Janet Mbabazi, Kevin Awino, Immaculate Nakisuyi, Rita Musamali, Stephanie Nampiina, Evelyn Anyipo, Sarah Akiteng, Marisa Ariokot, Lorna Anyait, Phiona Khulume, Gloria Obukor, Sarah Walaza, Esther Iloku, Immaculate Nandera

Officials: Lawrence Ssematimba (Head Coach), Deusdedit Muhumuza (Assistant Coach), Imam Tugume (Physiotherapist), Richard Okia (Team Analyst), Mary Nankinga (Team Manager).
