The UPDF has set up health camps across Luuka district with the aim of treating people to stay healthy during the 43rd Tarehe Sita anniversary.

The health camps will be held at Ikumbya health center III from 1st – 2n Feb/2024, In Waibuga Sub county at Waibuga health centre III from 3rd – 5th/ Feb/2024 and at Kiyunga health center IV from 1st – 5th /Feb/2024. The secret was revealed by Luuka district health educator Mugabe Moses during a press conference held today 31st/Jan/2024 in his office.

Moses Mugabe also called on civilians to participate in the health camps so that they can be treated and he also thanked President Museveni for instilling discipline in the Ugandan army that was very difficult by the civilians to cooperate with the army by then but now people enjoy life with the army.

In the same way in an effort to further strengthen the relationship with the community in Luuka district in these health camps, various agencies have joined the army to provide treatment to the people.

Usaid social behavior change activity (SBCA) is one of the organizations in Luuka district that has joined the army to treat civilians to stay healthy during the Tarehe Sita celebrations. Joses Wagugwe, coordinator of Usaid social behavior change activity ((SBCA) in Luuka district, told our correspondent Umar Ntogona that they decided to join the army for the purpose of educating people on how to keep themselves healthy and he encouraged people to participate in these health camps.

In the same way, the Luuka civilians said they are very happy with the UPDF for working together with the civilians, which was not easy during the times of our ancestors. This follows the UPDF’s cleanliness drive in Luuka, the establishment of a health camp, and a football match between Luuka and the army.

The army has been cleaning up Kiyunga, Nakabugu, and other towns in Luuka district. Some of the civilians told us that they are very happy because they have never seen this ever since they grew up and they thanked the President of Uganda Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for instilling discipline in the Ugandan army, which most say the army is now disciplined compared to the past regime army, saying that it was very difficult for civilians to interact with the army.

These days UPDF is celebrating a full week with the civilians in preparation for Tarehe Sita, which will take place on 6th/Feb/2024 at Busesa in Bugweri district.
