In a heartfelt address at Nakisene village, Bulongo Sub County, Luuka district, Sheikh Buruhani Byekwaso, a member of the General Assembly of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, rallied Muslims to remain steadfast in their faith despite potential confusion arising from certain quarters within the council.

The occasion was the Duuwa of Hajji Bidi Badiru Mumbula, who is embarking on a pilgrimage to Mecca. The Duuwa, organized by Hajji Bidi’s son, Al-Hajji Meddie Mulumba, provided a platform for religious leaders to inspire the community. Ntogona Umar, our reporter, was present to capture the insightful messages delivered.

Sheikh Buruhani Byekwaso emphasized the importance of not being misled by selfish individuals and urged Muslims to protect their dignity by avoiding actions that tarnish their reputation. He encouraged the community to stay focused on their faith and not be discouraged by external influences.

Luuka District Kadhi Sheikh Ismail Kyeyune extended his guidance to those undertaking the journey to Mecca, advising them to adhere to the laws of the sacred city and fulfill their religious duties for a rewarding experience. He specifically called on Hajji Badiru to pray for the well-being of Luuka and those who aspire to make the pilgrimage.

Al-Hajji Meddie Mulumba, expressing his sentiments, acknowledged that his father, Hajji Badiru, is undertaking the journey for Humula (spiritual retreat) but emphasized the importance of him utilizing this opportunity to engage in acts befitting his age. Understanding the physical limitations that come with age, Mulumba encouraged his father to embrace this pilgrimage with the wisdom of experience.

In his closing remarks, Hajji Badiru Bidi Mulumba echoed the sentiments of unity and respect among Muslims. He emphasized the adherence to Islamic laws as outlined in the Quran, urging fellow believers to uphold righteousness. The Duuwa served not only as a farewell for the pilgrim but as a collective call for spiritual strength and unity within the Muslim community.
