Meddie Mulumba, a former Human Rights Commissioner and the current NRM chairman in Luuka district, as well as the aspiring MP for Luuka North, extended his congratulations to Byabakama and his colleagues for their reappointment. In an exclusive interview with our correspondent Umar Ntogona, Al-Hajji Meddie Mulumba urged Ugandans not to criticize Byabakama and others but to afford him the opportunity to serve the nation.
Mulumba acknowledged that the decision to retain some members while discarding others to form a new committee lies with the appointing authority. He emphasized the challenges of leadership, noting that pleasing everyone is no easy feat, but it is essential to prioritize actions that benefit the public.
On the contrary, Batalageine Samuel, also known as Woodman, the leader of the opposition in Luuka district and a district councilor in Bukoova town council, had a different perspective. When contacted by Umar Ntogona, Woodman expressed his reluctance to influence Byabakama’s working methods but urged the opposition to allow the electoral commission to fulfill its responsibilities. He encouraged the opposition to focus on preparing for the 2026 elections to challenge the incumbent.
