Jinja: Dr. Frank Nabwiso, the former Kagoma county Legislator in Jinja district, has raised concerns about politicians disconnecting from the local people who voted for them, particularly during the off-campaign season. Nabwiso, a staunch member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), voiced his apprehensions after reports of politicians avoiding calls from voters by turning off their known telephone numbers.

During an address to parents and management at Ray of Hope Nursery and Primary school in Mafubira, Northern division of Jinja city, Nabwiso highlighted the disheartening trend of politicians neglecting their constituents to prioritize personal matters. He expressed disappointment in leaders, especially those from the NRM regime, for not addressing the challenges faced by their communities.

“The leaders of this NRM regime are disappointing with their tendencies of minding their businesses instead of addressing the challenges of their voters in communities. We really need to do away with such leaders,” remarked Nabwiso.

Advocating for a change in the political landscape, Nabwiso urged leaders across different political positions and parties to give back to their communities. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the common development of individuals rather than relying on campaign-time bribes. Nabwiso, who aspired for the Jinja city mayoral seat in the 2021 general elections, urged voters to distance themselves from what he labeled as selfish politicians.

While rallying support for opposition political parties with genuine agendas, Nabwiso criticized the NRM government for failing to provide necessary services to the local people. Despite financial challenges and improper service delivery, he called on parents to prioritize the education of their young children and stressed the need to nurture and keep young people engaged at home during holidays.

George Bakarikwira Mboizi, the director of Ray of Hope Nursery and Primary school, commended parents for fulfilling their responsibilities in educating children. He recognized the school’s management and staff for their significant role in ensuring effective education, marking a vital milestone for the institution.
