Uganda Cricket Association, in collaboration with Uganda Tourism Board, Motor Care, Bar Aviation, and Fireworks Advertising, is gearing up to host the ICC Men’s World Cup trophy on Saturday, August 26, 2023. The trophy is scheduled to tour various parts of Kampala and Jinja, a landmark event that has set cricket enthusiasts abuzz with excitement.

Although Uganda isn’t a front-runner in the upcoming cricket world cup, the fervor for the sport is palpable, having taken firm roots both locally and internationally. This momentous journey mirrors Uganda’s impressive strides in the cricket arena, creating ripples that traverse cultural and geographical boundaries.

The ICC’s mission behind this tour extends beyond cricket; it aims to showcase the rich traditional and cultural heritage of the African continent. The trophy will be officially handed over at the India High Commission upon its arrival. The subsequent day, on Sunday, August 27, 2023, it will journey to the State House in Entebbe, followed by an eagerly anticipated cricket festival, where the general public will have the opportunity to witness the trophy.

The cricket festival promises an array of engaging activities, including a replica of the World Cup tournaments, entertainment, bouncing castles, and a collective celebration of the love for cricket in Uganda.

The trophy’s journey through Jinja is set to commence on Monday, August 28, 2023, in collaboration with the Uganda Tourism Board and Bar Aviation. The tour will culminate the following day at the Uganda Parliament.

It’s a unique opportunity for Uganda to shine on the world stage. The country’s rich cricket history and passion are poised to take center stage, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of cricket enthusiasts across Uganda and beyond.
