After president Museveni assenting to the Anti Homosexuality bill into law, there have a lot of foreign criticism and sanctions threats against Uganda government. Parliament speaker Hon Annet Anita Among’s visas were allegedly revoked by the United States government.
US president, Joe Biden, in his statement said the law is a tragic violation of human rights and asked for it’s repeal. Foreign aid to Uganda was vowed to be muted if the law is to be implemented.
President Museveni, however, has always lashed the claims, saying the ‘whites’ are lost. He says; “Uganda and Africa shall not be influenced by the satanic practices.”
However, some religious leaders backed up the President’s historical decision of putting the bill into law. These say the actions (same-sex marriage and other related practices) are against God’s gospel.
Speaking to Busoga Today, Reverend Emmanuel Mugabi, the Archdeacon of Muguluka Archdiocese in Jinja district, says Uganda puts God first following her motto “For God and My country”. He described homosexuality as an act that is naturally and biblically wrong.
“We have reached a time of doing our things and leave the wrongs. Ugandans must protect the country motto of For God and My country and it is what the President considered,” say Rev. Mugabi.
“God will give us what we need out of his unlimited riches (Philippians 4:19). And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Our God shall give us other good people to give us aid in case we are in need,” he added.
According to Rev. Mugabi, the whites (US) didn’t get rich after homosexuality which people claim they will get rich as they engage in the same. Mugabi says everything is for God and Uganda is on the right side.
Pastor Zakaaria Sserwada of Evangle Church in Jinja city, called on President Museveni and Ugandans too desist from fear and intimidations that Uganda cannot survive without the donations from whites.
“I want to tell you that Uganda can stand on her own. We have all the resources to cater for our needs and no one should intimidate us,” said Sserwada
Sserwada appealed Museveni to have all corrupt politicians and other government officials halted to ensure the government has money.
“Provided the President can fight the corrupt officials in big offices with money, this money alone if secured can solve the problem of buying the vaccine for HIV/AIDS,” he said.
